Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," these prehistoric powerhouses are the stuff of fishing legend. Tarpon can grow over 6 feet long and put up a fight that'll have your arms burning. They're catch-and-release only, but the thrill of landing one is a memory you'll never forget. Spring and early summer are prime tarpon time in Miami, when they show up in big numbers to spawn.
King Mackerel: These speedsters are like the sports cars of the sea. King mackerel, or "kingfish" as we call 'em, can hit speeds of up to 60 mph when they're chasing bait. They're known for their smoking runs and acrobatic leaps. We typically find them in the cooler months, from fall through spring, and they're a blast to catch on light tackle.
Mahi Mahi: Also known as dorado or dolphinfish (though they're not related to dolphins), mahi mahi are some of the most beautiful fish in the ocean. With their vibrant blues, greens, and golds, they're a sight to behold. But they're not just pretty – they're delicious too. Mahi are hard fighters and great jumpers, making them a favorite among anglers. We see them most often in the warmer months, from late spring through early fall.
Crevalle Jack: These bruisers might not win any beauty contests, but what they lack in looks, they make up for in pure muscle. Crevalle jacks are notorious for their powerful runs and never-say-die attitude. They're around pretty much year-round, but we see the biggest ones in the fall and winter. When a big jack grabs your bait, hold on tight!
Black Grouper: If you're looking for a fish to fill your cooler (and your belly), black grouper is hard to beat. These bottom-dwellers are prized for their firm, white flesh and mild flavor. They're ambush predators, using their large mouths to inhale their prey. Catching them requires finesse and patience, as you need to coax them out of their rocky hideouts. We find them year-round, but the bigger ones tend to move to deeper water in the summer.
Alright, folks, let's wrap this up. Our Half Day Morning Weekend Fishing Trip in Miami is the real deal. You've got 4 solid hours to tangle with some of the Atlantic's most sought-after gamefish. From the hard-pulling grouper to the lightning-fast mackerel, there's something here for every angler. Our experienced crew will put you on the fish and make sure you have a blast doing it. And with a max of 3 guests, you're guaranteed plenty of personal attention and rod time. So what are you waiting for? The fish are biting, and your spot on the boat is waiting. Book now and get ready for a morning of Miami fishing at its finest. Trust me, your only regret will be not doing it sooner. See you on the water!

Unforgettable Night Fishing with Captain Anthony! We went out with Captain Anthony last night and had an incredible time. As a native Miamian, he knows the waters like the back of his hand and put us right on the fish. We brought my 12-year-old nephew along, and Anthony was fantastic with him—patiently teaching him proper techniques and making sure his line was always in the water. The result? Our young angler outfished us all, and he hasn’t stopped talking about it since—declaring it his best fishing trip ever! We battled several tarpon that got the best of us novice tarpon fishermen, but we still came home with a great haul of big mangrove snapper. Now, they’re being fried up with slaw, hushpuppies, and fries for a classic Southern lunch, while the biggest ones are headed for the grill with garlic lemon butter, mushroom risotto, and Caesar salad—plenty to feed the whole family! I highly recommend a trip with Captain Anthony for an unforgettable experience, great fishing, and memories that last a lifetime. Thank you, Captain!

Black Grouper are the bruisers of the reef. They average 15-30 pounds but can reach over 100. You'll find them around rocky bottoms, reefs, and wrecks in 60-250 feet of water. Winter and spring are peak seasons. These ambush predators are prized for their power - once hooked, they'll dive for cover, testing your gear and your back. They're not speedsters, but their sheer strength makes for an epic battle. Live bait like pinfish or grunts is tough to beat. Black Grouper are also fantastic table fare, with firm white meat that's great grilled or blackened. Local tip: When you feel the bite, reel fast and hard to pull them away from structure. If they get back to their hole, you'll likely lose the fish and your rig.

Crevalle Jacks are the bulldogs of inshore waters. They average 3-15 pounds but can top 30. You'll find them in bays, around jetties, and nearshore reefs. They're here year-round but really fire up in summer. Jacks are pure muscle - pound for pound, they're some of the hardest-fighting fish out there. They hunt in schools, often pushing bait to the surface. When you see birds diving and water churning, it's game on. Topwater lures, spoons, or live bait all work well. Just be ready for an arm-wrenching strike and a reel-screaming run. While they're not known for great eating, the fight alone makes them worth targeting. Tip: When a school is busting bait, cast beyond the frenzy and retrieve through it for best results.

King Mackerel, or "Kings," are speed demons of the sea. They typically run 20-40 pounds but can hit 100. Look for them in open water, often near the surface, chasing baitfish. Summer and fall are best, when water temps are in the 70s. Kings are prized for their blistering runs - when they strike, hold on tight! Their razor-sharp teeth make wire leaders a must. Trolling with live bait like blue runners or mullet is deadly effective. For a real thrill, try slow-trolling big live baits on the surface. Kings make excellent eating too, especially when smoked. Pro tip: When you see birds diving, there's a good chance kings are pushing bait to the surface. Get ready for some fast action!

Mahi, also called dorado, are the acrobats of the offshore world. They're fast-growing, usually 15-30 pounds, with some bulls pushing 50+. You'll find them in open water near floating debris or weedlines. Spring through fall is prime time. Mahi are known for their stunning colors - electric blues, greens, and gold - and their aerial displays when hooked. They're aggressive feeders and will hit just about anything that moves. Trolling small lures or baits is effective, but sight-casting to a school is the ultimate rush. Mahi are also fantastic eating, with firm white meat. Here's a local trick: If you hook one, keep it in the water. The rest of the school will often stick around, giving you shots at multiple fish.

These silver giants are the stuff of fishing legend. Tarpon average 4-8 feet long and 80-280 pounds, known for their acrobatic leaps and powerful runs. You'll find them in coastal waters, channels, and around bridges. Spring and summer are prime seasons as they migrate through. Anglers love tarpon for the intense fight - it's not uncommon for battles to last over an hour. Their massive, bony mouths make them tricky to hook, but that's part of the challenge. Live bait like mullet or crabs works well. My top tip: When a tarpon jumps, lower your rod to give it slack. This reduces the chance of it throwing the hook. Just remember, these are catch-and-release only - they're not good eating, but they're one heck of a trophy photo.
